Ian Haight was born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii and raised on the Big Island. As a
kid, his mom would take him to the beach at every possible moment even though they lived 20 miles from the shorelines. "I
would surf all winter and fish all summer. The beach boys at Mauna Kea taught me how to surf and that was it! I would draw
these nuts waves while in class." Ian continued his education at the UH of Hilo as well as his surfing. Several surf
companies noticed this passion and continue to sponsor him such as Ted Kearn Surfboards, Patagonia Clothing, Ocean
Minded Sandals, Optic Nerve Sunglasses, Victory Wetsuits, SurfCo Hawaii, Veteran Skateboards, and Hilo Surfboard Co. and to
name a few.
